Dr. Lewis brings a deep commitment to emergency medical services, having begun his career in the field as an EMT before advancing to paramedic, firefighter, and emergency medicine physician. His operational experience—spanning municipal fire/EMS and hospital emergency departments—underpins his relentless advocacy for frontline clinicians. Throughout his career, Dr. Lewis has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to elevating prehospital patient care, strengthening system capacity, and serving as a trusted voice and mentor for EMS clinicians across the state.

Most recently, Dr. Lewis has been providing support as the Associate State Medical Director, focused on driving clinical excellence and modernizing Maine's EMS infrastructure. With a forward-thinking vision, he is dedicated to leveraging data-driven solutions and expanding digital tools to enhance prehospital care delivery across both rural and urban communities. Above all, Dr. Lewis is committed to preparing a resilient, future-ready EMS workforce by championing clinical education, supporting workforce sustainability, and empowering agencies to meet the evolving healthcare needs of all Mainers.
